Redskins QB RGIII is Going Up the Fantasy Football Rankings!

NFL.com Looks like I will have to move RG3 up on my board!

Robert Griffin looked poised, patient, and most of all he did not turn over the football. While he was credited with a fumble it appeared that running-back Evan Royster did not secure the ball on the hand off.

Also considering that the awful replacement officials who cannot even figure out which team, player, and penalty are being called also determine that fumble.

What was most impressive about RG3 was the third series. Griffin read the defensive coverage, made good decisions, and capped the play with a touchdown pass to receiver Pierre Garcon.

A lot of credit has to go to the Washington Redskins offensive line but as noted by many analysts RG3 set a tempo that was not present with fellow rookie QB Kirk Cousins and veteran Rex Grossman.

What I am most impressed with RG3’s performance is his not trying to squeeze the football into gaps but instead taking what he was given. The two balls RG3 threw over the middle to Pierre Garcon in zone coverage were perfectly placed and required patience that most rookies don’t show.

While I don’t want to bump RG3’s fantasy football value to more than a few more points it is difficult to ignore his talent. I also will be increasing the value of receiver Pierre Garcon.

What has me worried about Washington is not knowing which running-back will be the feature back behind RG3. Whoever it is they will most likely have decent numbers if the defense is off balance. However both backs Evan Royster who fumbled and Roy Helu who wasn’t impressive are nothing to be excited about.

ESPN.com Berry and Ravitz discuss Terrell “Cry Me A River” Owens.

Now before you say; ‘That’s it I am done.’ you can fast forward to the discussion with ESPN’s NFL analyst Adam Schefter.

Fast forward to 14:30 where the discussion with Schefter is about KC RB Jamaal Charles, DEN WR Eric Decker, WAS RB’s including Roy Hellu’s potential.

By the way Mathew Berry gives some very silly fantasy advice in this podcast that I would not recommend to my worst enemy.

While I haven’t listened to the ESPN podcast for a week here is an archive of the ESPN Fantasy Focus Podcast podcast encase you time to kill.

RG3 is leaving an impression on veteran Redskin teammates.

SI.com RG3 leaves very good impression on his teammates as they speak highly of his work ethic.

Redskins.com RG3 makes impressions on his Redskin veteran teammates

Redskins.com RG3 opened up Redskins camp by gaining the praise of his veteran teammates.

FoxSports RG3 will be drafted by the Washington Redskins who acquired the second overall pick in the NFL Draft from the St Louis Rams.

However the price for RG3 is a one that will cost the Redskins many future picks…

  1. Redskins swap with the Rams for the first round draft selection moving from the sixth pick to second overall.
  2. The Rams will acquire the Redskins second round pick this year.
  3. The Rams acquire the Redskins first round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
  4. The Rams acquire the Redskins first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Redskins are surrendering a huge amount of future prospects for RG3 and if he doesn’t workout this will cost them considerably.

RG3 is landing with the Redskins in the 2012 NFL Draft and the Rams are landing a goldmine of draft picks!

Colts vs Redskins

NFL Pre-Season Week 2 Indianapolis vs Washington

COLD: The Colts. Yes the entire team is missing their leader Peyton Manning. The offense is brutal especially the running game.  But the defense is not playing well at all they have no run stop and coverage problems.  The Redskins totaled 215 yards rushing on top of 200 yards passing that is a double whammy.

HOT: Again Redskins RB Tim Hightower has me thinking he could have a 10 TD season if he can run like this all season.  Their toughest competiotion in the division is the Eagles and the Steelers an all over them.  Look for his stock to be on the rise.

SLEEPER: Redskins QB John Beck looked very good against a very bad defense but he can still be a second option at QB. He has value when you need a starting QB due to injury or your starting QB has a bye week.
