ProFootballWeekly: After very busy NFL news cycle things have slowed down so the PFW staff forward to the 2013 NFL Draft

ProFootballWeekly The staff talk about all the off season injuries and a detailed conversation on next years NFL Draft.

Matt Barkely would have been a top ten in this years draft however next year he will most likely be the top overall pick.

SI.com Can RG3 make a dent in a very difficult NFC East division, can Justin Blackmon be a great receiving prospect with unproven QB Blaine Gabbert, and will Trent Richardson see a heavy dose of eight in the box in Cleveland? The draft leaves many to still wonder what impact these rookies will have to the world of fantasy football.

What will this group of Fantasy Football Prospect be worth come September?

The Informers Top Ten Fantasy Football 2012 Draft Prospects: No. 7 QB Andrew Luck Stanford 6’4” 234lbs and 4.64

NFL.com: Welcome again to my top ten selections for this years NFL Draft class that will provide your fantasy football team with an immediate impact on fantasy football draft day.  These selections reflect the value of players in fantasy football and not necessarily the world of NFL football.

With my 7th overall selection I will take ironically Andrew Luck who is going prove lightning can strike twice in this NFL Draft for the Indianapolis Colts!

While luck will be replacing a NFL legend in Indianapolis his style of play is much more comparable to another NFL legend.  Luck reminds me much more of the run and gun style of San Francisco 49er Steve Young than the pocket passer that he is replacing in Peyton Manning.

Luck has has many talents that make him a future NFL Pro Bowl player and one of them is his ability to sustain drives with his accurate arm and fast feet.

While some analyst question Luck’s arm strength and his ability to deliver laser beam like passes Luck’s intangibles out weigh his defects.  The truth is Luck’s arm is deadly accurate especially inside the twenties.

Luck is quick on his feet and he had a very impressive showing at the NFL combine running a 6.80 time in the three cone drill that is third overall in this years QB draft class and not far behind Jets QB Tim Tebow who holds a record of 6.66 seconds.  Luck also ran a 4.28 in the twenty yard shuttle and also scored a best overall 10’4” in the broad jump.

Luck’s mental aptitude measuring a 37 on the wonderlic exam was even higher than former Colt Peyton Manning’s score.

Luck is simply NFL ready right now and has been recognized as the clear leader by the overall majority of NFL scouts.

I recommend his overall fantasy football draft value as a sneaky 8th round selection and Luck will be a solid starting QB in a twelve team or even a ten team league.

While some will argue Luck’s value as significantly less I want you to first look at Cam Newton’s numbers from last year.  Luck has just as much if not more potential as Newton and will be working with NFL veteran receiver Reggie Wayne who will be Luck’s mentor and teacher to NFL success.

Here is a linkto my 10th, 9th, and 8th overall pick if you missed it.

The Informer Throws Down to Andrew Perloff of SI.com!

The 2012 NFL Draft is in twenty-one days and everyone has an opinion from the guy at the bar who watched all but six college football games last season to the draft analyst on web media.

However what I don’t expect is for the guy at the bar to have more insight to the NFL draft then the draft analyst who has an credible opinion.

Enter Andrew Perloff who while giving his “2012 Most Overrated Draft Prospects” said the following,

“I don’t see Richardson as home-run kind of guy like Adrian Peterson.  I think he beat up on some bad competition last year and you know when you saw him in the two LSU games last year he is not immortal.  I think he is a very good running-back.  But you don’t take a very good running -back in the first round these days.  So I think Richardson is overrated.”

Ok Andrew I get it you’re saying no running-back is worthy of an early first round selection not even one who is clearly going capable of being an immediate impact player in the NFL.

However your’re wrong about everything!

Trent Richardson vs LSU Defense National Championship 20 carries, 96 yards, 1 RTD!  Not to mention Richardson busted the game winning rushing TD with 4:36 remaining.

Unfortunately that is all I am allowed to post in my opening argument.

SI.com So let me get this straight the Colts parted with former GM Bill Polian, former Head Coach Jim Caldwell, and former franchise quarterback Peyton Manning all to make room for a new era of Colts football.

The center piece of that new era is the number one prospect of the 2012 NFL Draft Andrew Luck.  However they are seriously considering taking RG3 over Luck now?

While RG3 is the second best prospect over all in the NFL draft he is still the second best prospect.

Luck is still the best prospect overall.

Will the Colts be tempted to take RG3 with the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft?

FoxSports RG3 will be drafted by the Washington Redskins who acquired the second overall pick in the NFL Draft from the St Louis Rams.

However the price for RG3 is a one that will cost the Redskins many future picks…

  1. Redskins swap with the Rams for the first round draft selection moving from the sixth pick to second overall.
  2. The Rams will acquire the Redskins second round pick this year.
  3. The Rams acquire the Redskins first round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
  4. The Rams acquire the Redskins first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Redskins are surrendering a huge amount of future prospects for RG3 and if he doesn’t workout this will cost them considerably.

RG3 is landing with the Redskins in the 2012 NFL Draft and the Rams are landing a goldmine of draft picks!
