ESPN Fantasy Football Now

What is the status to San Diego Chagers Ryan Mathews, Tennessee Titans Chris Johnson, and Tom Brady.

While Ryan Mathews is most likely not going to open the regular season ESPN's Stephania Bell provides us a glimpse of hope.

ESPN.com While Ryan Mathews injury is a serious one we shouldn’t just drop him from our fantasy football radar.

Chargers TE Gates Torches GB Coverage

NFL.com San Diego Chargers tight-end Antonio Gates has to be the go to guy for quarterback Philip Rivers.

The Chargers let receiver Vincent Jackson hit the free agency market and he scored a big deal in Tampa Bay.

The Chargers were also active during free agency acquiring former New Orleans receiver Robert Meachem but it’s obvious that the chemistry between the two is a work in progress. While Rivers did target Meacham he was picked off by GB corner Tramon Williams.

However the biggest fantasy football news came in the early first quarter as fantasy prospect Ryan Mathews was diagnosed with a broken clavicle on his first carry of the NFL preseason.

While the news of Ryan Matthews’s injury is less than encouraging the initial estimate is out 4-6 weeks. Even if after his surgery this morning that assessment changes to eight weeks he could possibly return as by week five. So do not drop him from your draft boards rather plan for a much later pick in rounds five or six.

SI.com Well at least you haven’t drafted him yet… Oh and Michael Vick is out for the season with a broken thumb. I’m kidding but who else will be knocked out of the top ten due to injury.

The injury occurred as early the first opening drive and you can read up on that at Chargers.com.

Can Doug Martin out play Blount in a NFL game?

CBSsports.com While the discussion opens about TB RB Doug Martin and his overall fantasy football value this podcast is all about every running-back.

How deep is the running-back position? Will their be any gems in the late rounds? Should you take a running-back with your first three picks? Will the injury history of the running-back position devalue the position in fantasy football?

I give Dave, Jamey, and even Adam credit because this may be the best podcast they have done yet this season.

If you listen to one podcast this season this is the one. GREAT PODCAST!

ThePigSkinGuy.com has an interesting blog post that takes two players that could be a real draft day dilemma and creates a debate for both players.

The first debate is Texans RB Chris Johnson vs Chargers RB Ryan Mathews.

San Diego RB Ryan Mathews may be the most undervalued player in this years draft and could slide to 4th round in some leagues.

ProFootballWeekly.com San Diego running-back Ryan Mathews is a top 12 pick overall in this years fantasy draft yet he slides to 3rd or 4th rounds because everyone is pass happy.

NFL.com Michael Fabiano makes the case for Chargers RB Ryan Mathews to suddenly become a premier back.  However I have more doubts than whims about a sudden increase in Mathews fantasy production than Fabiano.

Fabiano says 2012 is a Break Out year for Mathews?

ProFootballWeekly Former Saint Robert Meachem is now a San Diego Charger signing a four year deal worth $25.9million.

Meachem was a first round draft pick and has solid career numbers making him a fair exchange for Vincent Jackson.

Chargers QB Phillip Rivers has all day to hit WR Vincent Jackson in the end zone

The San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson caught two TD passes from QB Phillip Rivers yesterday.
