SI.com It isn’t often that I come across a fantasy football writer that makes me want to read their stuff out of creativity rather than just football insight.

I mean don’t get me wrong all the creativity in the world and all your giving is bad fantasy football advice is not going to keep me coming back but I was very surprised by David Gonos column in SI.com fantasy.

Surprised that Gonos took a chance on a fantasy football column with a comedic approach and makes it work however still providing me with some serious fantasy football information.

After reading the article I went over to Gonos blog DavidGonos.com and started to read some of his other post and found a guy that I would play fantasy football with. Gonos passion for fantasy football comes through loud and clear in his post and I believe that is what I enjoyed about them.

Now I am not going to tell you to read his blog post “Peyton Manning is NOT a Top Ten Quarterback” or “8 Reasons NOT to Take Arian Foster First Overall” nope but they are well worth your time to read.

You have to read the story about how he almost crapped his pants in the Magic Kingdom. I have not laughed this hard about crap since George Brett was picked up on a live mic talking about eating crab legs then having an explosion in his pants while walking through a hotel lobby.

Great Stuff Gonos I will link it all back here!

SI.com Don Banks looked over the NFL schedule and list eight games that will have NFL fans watching.  Banks also explains who will have a much more difficult path in the NFL regular season.  Hint the schedule is not very Giant friendly this year.

Things are already not looking good for the Giants in 2012 as Banks points out they will face three NFL playoff opponents again next season.

The Informer Throws Down to Andrew Perloff of SI.com!

The 2012 NFL Draft is in twenty-one days and everyone has an opinion from the guy at the bar who watched all but six college football games last season to the draft analyst on web media.

However what I don’t expect is for the guy at the bar to have more insight to the NFL draft then the draft analyst who has an credible opinion.

Enter Andrew Perloff who while giving his “2012 Most Overrated Draft Prospects” said the following,

“I don’t see Richardson as home-run kind of guy like Adrian Peterson.  I think he beat up on some bad competition last year and you know when you saw him in the two LSU games last year he is not immortal.  I think he is a very good running-back.  But you don’t take a very good running -back in the first round these days.  So I think Richardson is overrated.”

Ok Andrew I get it you’re saying no running-back is worthy of an early first round selection not even one who is clearly going capable of being an immediate impact player in the NFL.

However your’re wrong about everything!

Trent Richardson vs LSU Defense National Championship 20 carries, 96 yards, 1 RTD!  Not to mention Richardson busted the game winning rushing TD with 4:36 remaining.

Unfortunately that is all I am allowed to post in my opening argument.

Here is the link to the Throw Down on SI.com.

Don’t take Trent Richardson in the First Round and Andrew Luck will Disappoint?

SI.com Ok it’s official do not go to Andrew Perloff for NFL Draft perspective because you’re buddy who watched six college football games (three of them in the 4th Qtr only) has better insight.

While I agree with Tony Pauline’s insight and he makes a great argument for his choices I cannot believe Andrew Perloff’s choices as even close to serious. How can SI ask Perloff to comment on the NFL draft when he clearly has no insight into NCAA College Football.

Why Nike’s New NFL Uniforms Will Lead to Improved Performance on the Field

NIKE  Yesterday Nike revealed a new NFL uniform for all thirty-two NFL teams and while the majority of the uniforms are traditional in NFL style the technology of the uniform is new for all thirty-two teams.

Nike used fabric and design that will keep a player cooler, as well as dryer, and most of all lighter which will also increase player performance.

Now while some say a uniform cannot increase a player’s ability to run faster, jump higher, or stay on the field longer that this is all in the “athletes head” need to seriously consider the changes made to the uniforms.

Nike has taken the NFL uniform and made the overall function better starting with the fabric used to keep players cooler.  The fabric is different from the old uniforms offering better air circulation called cooling zones.  This will also keep players dryer which leads to less over heating so players stay on the field longer.

The new uniform will increase player performance due to the increased flexibility in the fabric and the Flywire design will help seal the pads with out decreasing motion in the upper body.

Nike took NFL player input to create a uniform that functions as a second layer of skin rather than a just a uniform.  Chicago Bear Brian Urlacher described the benefit of the Flywire design by describing a common problem middle linebackers have with offensive linemen; “harder to be held, which is good since I get held on every play.” SI.com

The changes to the NFL uniform are best described by Nike.

THE NIKE ELITE 51 – A COMPLETELY INTEGRATED SYSTEM OF DRESS

Key features include:

  • LIGHTER –The Nike jersey and pant, wet or dry are lighter than previous versions
  • FLYWIRE TECHNOLOGY- Eliminates layers, reduces weight, and provides lockdown fit
  • ZONED MESH VENTILATION – Provides cooling zones for optimal thermoregulation
  • ZONED STRENGTH - High tenacity, stretch material, for light weight lockdown strength.
  • CUT FOR MOBILITY – Four-way stretch, hydrophobic materials enable range of motion wet or dry.
  • STRETCH TWILL NUMBERS – Four-way stretch even on numbering system
  • CUSTOMIZABLE BASELAYER PADDING – Nike Pro Combat Hyperstrong baselayer with integrated lightweight, Deflex padding offering customizable flexible protection.
  • DEFLEX PADDING - Lightweight, flexible impact protection integrated into top “hit zone” areas
  • ALUMINUM D-RING BELT - Aircraft-grade aluminum D-ring belt reduces weight.

Now while the Seattle Seahawks are the first team to have a newly designed uniform in appearance the truth is all thirty-two NFL teams have a new uniform.

Greenbay Packer TightEnd Jermichael Finley points out the psychological advantage of the the Seahawks new style; ”If you look good, you play good. If you play good, you get paid good. The Seahawks have the best uniform out there right now.” SI.com

The Packers changing uniform design may be a long shot but the overall performance of the Packers uniform is the same as the Seahawks uniforms.

While Finley buys into the “feel good look good” idea I wouldn’t bet on the Seahawks going undefeated in the 2012 NFL season but at least they will look good losing.

NFL.com: Peter King breaks down his SI article on the Saints pay for performance bounty

(Source: thefantasyfootballinformer)

On Saturday nights during the 2009 NFL season, Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, the lightning-rod leader of a feisty unit, would stand in front of his men holding white envelopes filled with cash—bonuses for their performances the previous week. As Williams called up player after player, handing them envelopes with amounts ranging from $100 for a special teams tackle inside the opponents’ 20-yard line to $1,500 for knocking a foe out of the game, a chant would rise up from the fired-up defenders:
“Give it back! Give it back! Give it back!

Injury Expert Will Carroll answers questions about Peyton Manning’s fusion surgery

SI writer Will Carroll is considered by fantasy enthusiast the best source for advice on professional athlete’s injuries and recovery.  Carroll covers fantasy baseball and fantasy football and while he is not a doctor; to all who write about the fantasy industry he is the Dr. James Andrews of fantasy sports.

Carroll’s depth of investigation on injuries makes him a must follow on twitter and SI.com

While the game we play is a fantasy Carroll’s no none sense approach to real life sports injuries gives his readers insight to what they can expect.  Everything from a MLB pitchers injured rotator cuff to NFL quarterbacks post concussions.

Yesterday Carroll answered some quick questions I had about former Indianapolis Colt Peyton Manning and the speculation over his fusion surgery.

TheFFInformer: What is the risk of Manning’s neck injury and is there a greaterSI.com Injury Expert Will Carroll answers some questions about Peyton Manning's neck injury. risk of paralysis after fusion surgery?

Carroll: No, the neck is fused, so it’s actually stronger than most people’s (but a bit less flexible.) He’s at no more risk than anyone for paralysis.

TheFFInformer: How much is his arm strength and throwing motion affected by the fusion surgery? Can he throw across his body?

Carroll: His arm strength is coming back and is at a playable level now. The video showed him (specifically) throwing across his body.

I want to thank Will Carroll for taking the time and granting me the permission to write his reply on my blog.

I encourage you all to click on the hyperlink to his twitter account and follow Carroll.  Also Will is busy writing about fantasy baseball which is about to begin soon so checkout his columns on SI.com.

SI.com Legal expert Michael McCann writes that their are legal dilemmas that Saints players could possibly face.

Are the Saints in legal trouble?

SI.com While I am going through the morinings news and notes from diferent media outlets some short and sweet others with way to many details I found a GREAT READ!

I am not surprised by the source either since Sports Illustrated writer Don Banks has covered the NFL since the late 90’s and is a great writer.

Banks found some interesting stories lines so far at the NFL Combine.
