Jets head coach Rex Ryan joined ESPN New York on The Michael Kay Show.

Rex Ryan, “I don’t think he(Shaun Ellis) can bring secrets. He can bring mentality. He can talk about the way we are going to approach games against New England and things like that. [Michael Kay: Does that worry you?] No. Everybody knows the kind of mentality we are bringing.”

Any one who watched HBO’s “Hard Knocks” last season will recognize Mike Tannenbaum’s voice from the show.  He was famous for his exchange with a player on the sideline of practice asking him, “How do you make this team” if your not a starter? “Special Teams, special teams, and special teams.”

With that said if you don’t recognize him for that exchange you remember his negotiation to bring back CB Darrelle Revis a holdout last seson, back to camp.

Tannenbaum spoke with ESPN Radio NY with The Michael Kay Show about Nnamidi Asomougha, signing Antonio Cromartie and Plaxco Burress.

Tannenbaum, “I think we felt like Asomugha was an opportunity we had to pursue … and then when that didn’t work out we moved onto other situations. And in fact we signed Plaxico before Cromartie was done. I think Cromartie’s a good deal for both sides. He’s happy, we’re happy.”

Mike Tannenbaum is the best NFL GM and know what or who to pursue for his teams.

Are the Philadelphia Eagles the new “dream team”?  Eagles GM Howie Roseman spoke with sports radio WIP in Philadelphia and answered questions about how the Eagles stayed under the radar to acquire Asomugha.  The status of holdout receiver DeSean Jackson, and why sign Vince Young?

Howie Roseman,  “I don’t think anyone can deny that Vince Young is a rare talent. This is a guy who is a two-time Pro Bowler, won ‘Comeback Player Of The Year’, had phenomenal success at the college level. He’s got unique abilities as a play-maker. It’s hard to find play-makers in this league especially at the quarterback position. I feel very fortunate to be the general manager of a team that has coaches who have outstanding success with quarterbacks. If you give Andy Reid, Marty Mornhinweg, Doug Pederson – you give those guys a talented guy like this – in this offense with the weapons we have and the offensive line we hope to develop here in the next few weeks with continuity I think that is exciting for us.”

Update: Nnamdi Asomugha’s agent pulled the old ‘Bait and Switch’.  Pumped up the price tag between the Jets and the Cowboys then he is holding his ace card the Eagles.

Yes, Asomugha is heading to the Eagles.

The Jets made a lot of moves to acquire Asomugha and restructured several players contracts.  Asomugha’s agent is defiantly welcome around Rex Ryan who delivered a sales pitch to a bitter sounding, ‘NO’.

The word out of New York right now from the Jets players, staff, and reporters is that the Jets are clearing cap room to finalize a contract with free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

Making the New York Jets secondary Darrelle Revis and Asomugha the best back field duo of  in the NFL.

I will post an update to this story when the agreement becomes a contract!
