ProFootballWeekly.com is reporting that NFL free agency could begin this week. On Thursday the 8th circuit court could drop the temporary stay (temporary lockout).  However the court could choose to keep the stay in place until the appeal on Judge Nelson decision is decided.  The appeal case has been scheduled for a June 3rd date.

ESPN.com NFL Insider Adam Schefter the latest on the NFL lockout, the status of undrafted players, and the possibility NFL free agency will begin this week…

don’t hold your breath!

My Open Letter to NFL Fans!

Dear NFL Fans,

I am talking to you the guy who is a hard core NFL fan and is sick of the NFL lockout!

For a few hours it felt fun to talk about football, free agency, and most of all the NFL Draft again.  But in the second round of the NFL Draft poof it was all gone. The 8th circuit courts ruled in favor of the owners for a ”stay’ and starting the lockout over.

From what I have been reading this off again, on again, with the courts was expected. Besides it wasn’t like the Lockout was really over, I mean all they did was let them talk to coaches and workout.

But we are coming to a critical place in the timeline for no football in fall. Tomorrow is May 1st and before you know it will be June 1st and then 4th of July and then you will be looking for a fantasy football magazine and it will hit you like a ton of bricks, ‘Lockout’.

This is getting serious! I don’t know about you guys but tomorrow I am calling my cable provider to tell them cancel NFL ticket.

Why should I pay my money for the NFL season that is on hold? You know what is on hold? The people in charge saying, ‘hey let’s come to arrangement before we turn away all our fans”.

The ratings for the NFL draft were down 20%, who is that 20%? Guys who are not hardcore like us. They lost that guy he is gone until he hears the game is on. We’re still here though.

But I don’t know about you but I do not want to wait forever and the courts are fooooorrrrrever.

Three months ago I read a great line in USA Today, it was former Chicago Cub Mark Grace and they asked him about baseballs labor problems in the 90’s.

They asked Mark what changed. What made the money easier to divide amongst players and owners?  Mark simply used the analogy of a big money pie and said,
“We came to realize there is a lot of pie to be sliced.”

So do you think the NFL could realize that if baseball has a pie then football has a money tree? A Great Big, Giant, Money Tree! That Blooms with Zillions of dollars every fall.

But if these idiots keep going like this the money tree is going to be chopped for fire wood. And the NBA is not far behind the NFL.

I guess in the end the only thing that is certain is no matter what we do nothing will change unless we do something.

We all want football but what can we do to get the leagues attention?  Tell me what you think we should do down below in DISQUS.

I see the NFL letting the season slip through their hands like sand. It is time to write letters to the NFL and tell them the fans are done.

Sicerely,

The Fantasy Football Informer

The NFL Lockout is now on again!

As coaches we just want to get to work and get the players in the building and get going forward. Today was a positive day in that regard,” he said. “It was nice having the guys in and being able to see some of the guys who are in town.

Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchaksaid he was disappointed that the stay had been granted.

Once Again Michael McCann explains what Judge Susan Nelson’s decision means for the NFL.  Read carefully because Commissioner Roger Goodell is not the only one who should be concerned about the future of the NFL.

Michael McCann is a sports law professor and writer for SI.com.  McCann has a great talent for taking the law and simplifying it for the rest of us.

The decision by Judge Nelson to rule on behalf of the NFL players changes everything, the CBA, free agency, and NO restricted free agents (see no.2). Simply the current CBA is possibly void (no.2) and is not in effect with this ruling by Judge Nelson unless an appeal is granted.

If you want to understand what this decision means read the article but if you want the simple version go to number seven.

Nevertheless this is a great article for a little perspective of how much the players have gained with this ruling.

NEW YORK (AP) The NFL doesn’t have a deadline for when games would be canceled without a collective bargaining agreement.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The NFL and its players opened a fourth day of court-ordered talks Wednesday as the lockout reached its 40th day with few signs of progress so far.

No Brady, No Manning, No Union

by Cris Benson The Fantasy Football Informer

Would hurt to show?

I would like to thank Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for showing up in court today and lending their support to the…Wait they didn’t show!  The first guy listed of the 10 players is not in court to lend support for the former NFLPA?

Wait only 5 of the 10 showed up in court.  Well did the legal team at least show? Wow that must have made quite an impression that these 10 players are serious about this antitrust suit?

Oh but wait you know who did show Von Miller a kid who could gain nothing out this since the players are so quick to sell out the future draft class with a rookie imposed cap.

You know to the credit of those five players who did show up today I am glad to see they support the union.  But having some heavy hitters in the room just proves one thing.  Theirs no such thing as a union when everyone is not on the same page.  And DeMaurice Smith blew it today.  Smith should have spoken to all these men and said, ‘I don’t just want your name, I want your commitment to this!’ before he decided to add their names for easy press to the lawsuit.

Now Drew Brees was not their either and I know he has been at the front of CBA negotiations.  But you needed to get these guys all in court today and not sell the judge, or the media, but the owners that the index finger was not just a gimmick for NFLPA to show unity.

But in my opinion Tom Brady and Peyton Manning may have given the wrong finger at the beginning of the season. Unfortunately the fans, players, and most of all the owners all just noticed which finger it was today.

Let’s hope that legal team for the players are solid because David Boise who represents the NFL was on the warpath today.  And he takes no prisoners.

David Boise made strong arguments today on why the court should not here this case and the labor board should.
