NFL.com Will Maurice Jones Drew, Matt Forte, Ray Rice, and Drew Brees be affected on the field by their holdout?

Pro Football Weekly Radio

Atlanta Falcons RB Jacuizz Rodgers is gaining a lot of early buzz!

ProFootballWeekly.com The crew talk about the progress of Drew Brees latest contract issues but to my surprise was the second story about Falcons RB Jacquizz Rodgers a deep sleeper in this seasons fantasy football draft.

ESPN Mike and Mike spoke with a frustrated Drew Brees.

ESPN.com Drew Brees spoke with the Mike and Mike Show this morning about the status of his contract, will he show for training camp if doesn’t have a contract, and the Saints bounty scandal.

ProFootballWeekly: Contracts, Contracts, and MORE CONTRACTS! One guy feels disrespected and the other feels under paid but none will play for their current deal.

The PFW staff discuss the current status of Saints QB Drew Brees contract negotiation and the Saints creative accounting to find cap space.

The situation in Chicago with Bears RB Matt Forte is coming to a climax as talks are in a stalemate. Will the Bears front office bend or will Forte continue to hold out come training camp refusing to sign his franchise tag tender. By the way Jaguars RB Maurice Jones Drew and Bears RB Matt Forte share the same agent who appears to be poorly representing both clients.

Unlike Ravens RB Ray Rice and Bears Matt Forte who have one year left on their contracts MJD still has two years left on his contract. The Jaguars have made it clear they are not going to renegotiate a contract for MJD at this time.

While the NFL is about to go into hibernation before the start of NFL training camp it is important to keep a close eye on Monday July 16th. That is the deadline for players that have been tagged to sign franchise tenders.

Saints QB Drew Brees Skips Mandatory MiniCamp

NFL.com While this isn’t news to make you question if you should draft Drew Brees it is also not an endorsement.  Just how many distractions can a team have before it effects them on the field?

While my 2012 Draft Cheat Sheet is not posted yet it is dilemmas like this one that make me want to slow down and just keep analyzing my projections.

The biggest dilemma is the human factor and that is not measurable however it is still a factor.

Most likely Colston is on the move.

Saints vs Texans

NFL Pre-Season Week 2 New Orleans vs Houston

COLD: Saints QB Drew Brees threw a lot of incomplete passes he was under pressure and didn’t seem in sync with all his receivers.

HOT: A lot of players on both teams were very impressive in this game.  But if you have to pick one it is hands down Houston RB Arian Foster

Foster had a ridiculous 5 attempts for 47 yards and two 2 TD’s!  If that isn’t evidence why he deserves to be the consensus number one overall pick in this years fantasy draft then I don’t know what fantasy football is about.

Foster had a statement game tonight and the statement was he is still the best NFL RB overall and last season was no fluke.

SLEEPER: If Sants RB Mark Ingram is still a sleeper this week he won’t be next week.  Another TD carry for the rookie who is becoming a serious fantasy threat and a solid number two RB for any fantasy team.

Saints vs 49ers

NFL Pre-Season Week 1 New Orleans vs San Francisco

Fantasy Analysis:

The 49ers allowed 6 sacks in the first half several slamming starting QB Alex Smith.  However RB Frank Gore was productive when asked to carry the ball averaging 5 yards a carry on 4 attempts.

Another RB who showed positive signs was Saints rookie Mark Ingram averaging 3.8 yards a carry and one that was a 14 yard dart for a TD.

Fellow Saints RB Pierre Thomas was a dismal 4 attempts for only 8 yards rushing.  Thomas a veteran RB with the Saints is a huge question mark this year after spending most of 2010 out with injury.

Free agent and former Jet Braylon Edwards was on the radar catching one pass for 12 yards and was targeted twice in the game.  Always good to see newly acquired players involved in the game plan.

Last but not least Saints QB Drew Brees did play with limited snaps.
