The Mail Bag
First; Thanks for the LOVE!
You honestly have a bad to worse situation here and this is why.
While BenJarvus Green-Ellis isn’t the best start against a difficult Ravens defense he is the one you have to start. Why? He is simply going to touch the ball more.
Touches matter in fantasy football and Green-Ellis has no serious competition in Cincinnati. While I think he is overrated and will struggle without the Patriots style offense he still beats the alliterative.
Until the Buffalo Bills realize that head coach Chan Gailey needs to be fired they are never going to develop their former ninth overall pick C.J. Spiller.
Gailey praised Spillers ability to pickup blocks for his quarterback during training camp instead of getting his young running-back more involved with the Bills offense. This Caused Spiller to nose dive in my running-back rankings. It’s never good when a coach praises your blocking to the media instead of your ability to shed tackles.
However even if Spiller was more involved in the running game what is he going to receive? Ten to fifteen carries to split with Jackson at best.
CJ Spiller is being wasted in Buffalo and why if the Bills are not going to use him effectively I would just assume they would seek a trade?
If Fred Jackson goes down again then C.J. Spiller will be a solid start but keep a close eye on Jackson’s workload. If he starts to look a step slow I expect to see Spiller as the feature back in Buffalo.
Good Luck this weekend!
