The Mail Bag
Wow! San Francisco TE Vernon Davis is a beast and Tennessee TE Jared Cook could be on the verge of a great season.
Now while some of you are saying this a no brain-er the truth is both teams can expose their respected match-ups. Both of them have great potential this weekend but obviously you can only start one this weekend.
Well how we will break them down is let’s assume they are equals and start with their match-ups.
First Davis plays the Green Bay Packers a defense that was picked apart last season. I am not sure they have made all the appropriate moves to fix that defensive secondary.
Besides being the worst overall defense in the category of yards allowed last season the Packers allowed more passing yards then any team in NFL history. Look no further then last seasons spanking by the New York Giants in the playoffs where Eli manning threw for 330 yards and three TD’s.
The Packers used used their first six draft picks to patch the defense but this weekends afternoon contest against the 49ers will test them.
Jared Cook and the Tennessee Titans play a mirror situation the New England Patriots defense were the the second worst defense against the pass in 2011. Right behind the leagues worst passing defense the Packers.
Now unlike the Packers the Partriots look moderately improved on defense from last season.
I also think you will see a low scoring game as the Patriots will be a much worse offense this season. This game will be a battle of whose defense will bend not break.
Now with that said I’m looking for a shootout in Green Bay the likes of what we saw in the divisional round of the playoffs with the 49ers and the Saints.
I think that the 49ers will expose the Packers this weekend and Vernon Davis will lead the charge. My prediction he has seventy yards and a touchdown.
Thanks for the compliment and sorry I wan’t able to respond sooner to your question. Good Luck!
