The Informers Top Ten Fantasy Football 2012 Draft Prospects: No. 3 RB Doug Martin Boise State 5’9” 219lbs and 4.49
NFL.com: Welcome again to my top ten selections for this years NFL Draft class that will provide your fantasy football team with an immediate impact on fantasy football draft day. These selections reflect the value of players in fantasy football and not necessarily the world of NFL football.
With my 3rd overall selection I will take RB Doug Martin. Martin in my opinion is as close as you can come to a clone of Jaguars RB Maurice Jones Drew.
He runs through holes with explosive speed, he spins off tackles with ease, he runs down hill through defenses, he has great receiving talent, and is very undervalued in this NFL Draft.
Martin is a pure talent and will be able to compete for starting running back in the NFL even if drafted to a team with a veteran running back.
Martin could compete as the starting back with players like Shonn Greene of the New York Jets, Beanie Wells of the Arizona Cardinals, and Rashard Mendenhall of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Martin is strong and noted for his work out routine in the weight room. Nicknamed the “Muscle Hamster” for his small but powerful physical stature.
One of Martins collegiate achievements was his impressive game in the Las Vegas Bowl totaling 301 all purpose yards against Arizona State.
Martin will be either a 2nd or high 3rd overall option at running-back and should be considered a 5th or 6th round fantasy football selection. If available take him as a 2nd option at running-back and don’t look back because you will not regret it.
Here is a link to my 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th, and 4th overall pick if you missed it.
